Hey ya'll! I wanted to share some quick tips on content creation that have helped me build an audience on Instagram, tell my story and start conversations.
Let me start by saying two things:
1. I. Love. A. Good. Photographer. I'll share more later on the importance of a great photographer (and yes, I use one!) when getting a blog, business or any "new thing" off the ground. It's huge. It tells your story and builds your brand. It's the lens (quite literally) through which the world sees what you're up to. It's tells the grand story of your calling and the Lord is making Himself known in the steps of obedience you're taking into the unknown. Nothing will take it's place in my opinion. It is worth the money and you get what you pay for!
2. I. Love. My. iPhone. And really love #PortraitMode. Maybe you are a little intimidated by the sea of fashion bloggers on the 'gram. They seem to look flawless every day and you're just so curious how and who and why and when they shoot and how they afford it!
Here's a content hack: take your iPhone and shoot some pictures in Portrait Mode! It's a great way to get decent shoots either in the moment or you can pre-plan some content and then you won't be as stressed each day and think, "Goodness, what am I going to post today?"
This week, I helped my friend Allie shoot some quick photos for her IG. She works for a mortgage business and is super passionate about sharing her heart, her career and Jesus with her audience she's built. (Small, shameless plug: if you live in the Knoxville area and you're looking to buy a house anytime soon, her handle is @allieconway517)
We grabbed one of her favorite books, she threw on a cute outfit (that totally captures her personality - she's the literal cutest), we walked outside and 5 minutes later this happened:
Isn't she gorgeous? Now she has tons of content until we get together next month and do it again (and Tennessee will be "almost" in the mood for fall next month, so I can't wait to take some pictures with fall outfits).
Back to the photographer conversation, I would highly encourage you to do a professional shoot at the beginning of your journey of building a website, business, podcast, etc. It is SO worth the investment. My cousin is an amazing photographer and shot all of the photos on the site. Check out her website by clicking here!
Content Challenge: This week I want you to "phone a friend" and get together (even for just 30 minutes). Choose three props (a book, your planner, something related to your business) and snap 30 pictures with the portrait mode on your iPhone. Now, you have content for the next MONTH!
Prayer for the entrepreneur:
Jesus, as I create and share and grow, help me to always glorify You. May my platform always be a lens and a filter through which the world sees the Gospel - the great story of You coming to earth and through Your life, death, burial and resurrection, redeeming my story and saving me from my sin. I'll never get over the price You paid. Help me have the faith and boldness to proclaim You to the sphere of influence around me by my words, my actions, my choices and my faith (especially in the hard seasons).
In Your name,
